Heritage Festival

Appalachian Craft Village

The Appalachian Craft Village will be on the lawn of the Roy Acuff Union Museum and Library and will feature area artisan from many of the local guilds as well as regional and nationally known artisan.  Basket making, broom making, gourd carving, wood crafts, candle making, Native American crafts and much more will be featured on Saturday, Oct. 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Our Fall Festival is a free celebration of the Heritage of Union County and the 25th anniversary of the Union County Historical Society  featuring all-day entertainment, fine handmade arts and crafts, moonshine making, quilt show, fine art show, children's activities, and a variety of tantalizing foods and beverages - many having an Appalachian Mountain flavor. It will be located on the lawn and surrounding  the Roy Acuff Union Museum and Library in Maynardville, Tennessee October 14th, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Cost is $25.00 for art and craft vendors (no electrical) and $40.00 for food vendors (electrical provided).

Fine Arts Show and Competition

 

The Union County Historical Society is proud to sponsor a Fine Art Show and Competition at the Roy Acuff Union Museum and Library on October 14, 2006 as part of the Union County Heritage Festival.  Artisans from all disciplines are encouraged to enter up to three of their two- and three-dimensional works. Drawing, painting from any medium, photography, pottery and sculpture are all welcomed, but all entries must be the original work of the exhibitor. All entries must be acceptable for family viewing.  Any work deemed not so by the Art Committee will not be allowed into the show.  There is no entry fee.  There will be 1st  Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and Honorable Mention recognition awards given in each category (pottery, photography and painting) as well as an overall Best of Show and Best Union County Heritage.  Best Union County Heritage will be awarded to the piece of work that best depicts life, past or present, in Union County. All artists are welcome to enter and Union County artists are especially encouraged to enter this Fine Arts Show.

Work displayed for competition may be offered for sale to the public during the show with a 10% commission paid to the Union County Historical Society.  Please bring your art to the Roy Acuff Union Museum and Library, 3824 Maynardville Highway on Thursday, October 13th between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.  A volunteer will be available to sign your work into the show and it will be available for pick-up on Sunday, October 15th between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
